Jurassic Coast Walks
The Jurassic coast has so many places to visit and activities to choose from, you could visit regularly for years and not cover them all!
Jurassic Coastal Path
Walking the coastline is a popular pastime when visiting the Jurassic Coast. Fernhill is located on the Jurassic Coastal path between Charmouth and Lyme Regis, so perfectly placed to enjoy walks from our front door.
The Jurassic coastal bus service (the x53) stops at the bottom of our drive, so there is every opportunity to give the car a holiday in our ample car park. You can explore on foot, with bus or taxi alternatives to get you home if you wish.
As Seen On TV
The coastal views were highlighted in a number of TV programs including Golden Cap, the highest point on England’s South Coast.
Julia Bradbury explored inland from the ancient holloways from Symondsbury , through Morecombelake and up to Golden Cap. We walk it from our front door, through Charmouth and up Stonebarrow Hill. It is impossible not to enjoy the beautiful countryside and breathtaking sea views at the top. This walk can be a circular walk, ending at the beach in Charmouth. The route is approximately 8-10miles of fell walking.
For those who prefer something a little less strenuous but still want to enjoy those views, you can drive to Langdon Hill, near Morecombelake. From here it is a less strenuous 2 mile circular walk atop this hill, with a route up to Golden Cap signposted.
Whichever route you choose, the rewards are well worth the effort.
To look down on the ever-changing seascape, and appreciate the distance along the coastline is awe-inspiring.
Green Living
Heading west from our front door, and walking through the woods which sit between us and Lyme Regis Golf Course takes you on to the Jurassic coastal path into nearby Charmouth and Lyme Regis.
The coastal views are breath-taking, and you can enjoy reducing your carbon footprint by leaving the car for the day – plus you avoid the stress of having to find a parking space
Getting close to nature is one of the highlights of a visit to west Dorset/east Devon.
There is less industry, more countryside and hundreds of miles of coastline to feed your soul.
The slower pace of living makes a short stay feel like a long one, so you return home relaxed, recharged and energised!
