Lyme Regis is a place which holds a special place in the hearts of many.

Its historic streets look almost unchanged from 100 years ago when they would have endured far less traffic then they do today!

Jane Austen wrote Persuasion while staying in Lyme Regis at her seaside cottage. Tracy Chevalier’s Remarkable Creatures also makes use of Lyme Regis as its setting for her novel around the life of Mary Anning.

The town was also made famous by John Fowles’ novel A French Lieutenant’s woman, the film of which was released in 1981 and still draws fans to the town today.

Soon a new film will be released around the life of famed Lyme Regis palaeontologist Mary Anning, starring

Kate Winslet and Saoirse Ronan. Ammonite is a romantic story set in the 1840s’, and earlier this year, Lyme was transformed into a historic set for filming.  We are looking forward to seeing the film when it is released in 2020!
