Covid 19 – Our plans

Posted on June 14th 2020

Very soon we hope to receive the Government Guidelines on hospitality so that we can reopen our doors to you for a holiday.

It has been a long, uncertain time for us all and the adjustments we have made as a human race have been monumental in such a short period of time.

As a small, family-run business we are confident we can take care of our guests to whatever standards may be required to keep you – and us – safe.

Since it is not yet known what the Government guidelines will be for Hotels, we are unable to confirm exactly what services will be available when we are able to open our doors to you again.

We can guarantee, however, the same warm welcome, caring service and quality food, locally sourced and prepared by our kitchen team.

Our guests are our priority so to ensure we minimise the risk for us all, we will not initially be open for passing trade in our restaurant or bar areas, retaining all our internal space solely for our resident guests in our 10 bedrooms.

This minimises the risk for us all and enables us to care for groups of family and friends in total privacy, or smaller groups of guests with plenty of space to keep safely socially distanced.

We are so lucky at Fernhill to be blessed with space.

Around the area, there are plenty of countryside and coastal walks which enable everyone to benefit from fresh sea air in a safe way.

If the beaches are crowded, you can relax safely at Fernhill.

Acres of woodland, meadows and ponds surround us on Fern Hill, and our terraces and pool area have the space to socially distance whilst enjoying the sunshine and birdsong, over a bottle of wine or coffee and cake.

Inside the building, we also have ample space for our 10 en-suite bedrooms to enjoy. With high ceilinged rooms and spacious communal areas which offer socially distanced space for each guest.

Following the relevant guidelines, we have the space to offer every guest a dining table for the length of their stay, socially distanced and safe to enjoy our delicious menu. Room service will also be available for those who prefer to isolate more fully during their stay.

Our already exceptional standards of housekeeping have been adapted to the ensure the necessary safety regarding Coronavirus and there are safe processes and hand cleaning stations around the building.

To give you peace of mind when you visit, in addition to ensuring you have a safe space to relax and dine, we are committed to providing you flexibility to enjoy your meals where you want to.

Breakfast, lunch and dinner will be available at the hotel, but if you prefer fish and chips on the beach, we can provide take-away fish and chips for you to take with you – without the risk of queueing for hours with hundreds of others. You could also book a packed lunch for your day out, to reduce the time and risk of finding a meal when you are out at tourist attractions in the area.

In the meantime, we are working as a team to make sure we are ready for you when the time comes.

Wishing everyone peace and safety

Rob & Jo Illingworth xx
